1. What is a warrant in debt?
It’s when your creditor sues you in General District Court. You can’t go to jail, but they are trying to make you pay a debt you owe.
2. How does a creditor file and serve a lawsuit against me?
It starts in General District Court when a creditor files a Warrant in Debt. These court papers then need to be served, either given to you in person, usually by a deputy sheriff, given to a member of your household (over 16,) or mailed or posted on your front door.
3. Do I need a lawyer?
You don’t need a lawyer in General District Court, but an attorney could be important if your dispute is serious.
4. What is your fee structure?
We offer various ways to pay for your case, including flat fee and monthly billing. We accept all major credit cards to assist with payment.
