Cailyn Butler is a relentless criminal trial attorney who fights for her clients at every stage of the criminal justice process. Known for her sharp strategy and fearless advocacy, she ensures her clients not only understand the legal battles ahead but are fully prepared to face them head-on. Her mission is unwavering—secure the strongest possible result through aggressive representation and direct, no-nonsense communication.
Cailyn’s disciplined analytical mindset was forged through a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky before earning her Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law. While in law school, she refined her courtroom instincts in mock trial competitions and built a solid foundation in defense work through public defender internships. After being admitted to the Virginia Bar, she joined the Norfolk Public Defender’s Office, where she quickly earned a reputation as a fearless, formidable presence in the courtroom.
Cailyn began her legal career in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, defending both adults and juveniles against charges ranging from domestic assault and battery to violent felonies including strangulation and sex crimes carrying mandatory life sentences. She later expanded her practice to adult criminal defense, tackling high-stakes cases involving DUI, drug distribution, firearm offenses, sex crimes, violent felonies, and homicide. With substantial experience trying cases before judges and juries, Cailyn knows exactly what it takes to dismantle the prosecution’s case and protect her clients’ freedom.
A Charlottesville-area native, Cailyn spends her time outside the courtroom hiking with her two dogs, riding her motorcycle, and camping deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
