Charlottesville attorney William D. Tucker, III is the founding partner of Tucker Griffin Barnes P.C., and one of Charlottesville’s leading experts in real estate law. Mr. Tucker’s 45 plus years of experience as a real estate lawyer, and his business acumen have helped create the success of Tucker Griffin Barnes. He also is co-founder of Charlottesville Settlement Company, Central Virginia’s largest settlement and title insurance company. People seek out “Tucker” (as he likes to be called) for his real estate and business expertise.
Tucker received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida and then earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from the University of Virginia. He was subsequently admitted to the bar in both Virginia and Florida.
Tucker resides in Charlottesville with Elly, his wife of 35 years. Tucker is also an avid supporter of the local performing arts and is a dedicated member of Congregation Beth Israel and a board member of Camp Albemarle Inc. Tucker also has served as a board member of the Piedmont Housing Alliance, Tandem Friends School, Virginia Institute of Autism, First Night Virginia, and for 15 years, was a faithful and active member, and provided legal assistance to the Board that refurbished and reopened The Paramount Theater.
Every week, Tucker publishes “Tucker’s Tips” — advice for local Realtors and Lenders. These tips cover topics from dealing with homeowner’s association dues to selling distressed properties. In fact, Tucker is locally known as a distressed property expert. He has established a team of paralegals who deal entirely with short sales. Tucker and his short sale paralegals offer legal advice to involved parties, negotiate with lenders, and handle the closings for what can often be a stressful situation.
“Mr. Tucker, I cannot thank you enough for all your work. I wish everyone had your work ethic and attention to detail and level of customer service. This would never have gone through had you not been on the case. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
“Bill Tucker and his team were the answer to my real estate prayers! After being transferred to another state for work, my condo sat on the market for over a year in this dismal market with no traffic. I enlisted the help of Bill Tucker and after 3 months, I was relieved of this burden! They fought hard so that I wouldn’t have to continue to pay on my condo even after the short sale was over. I truly felt that they cared about me and my situation and could not have asked for a better team. THANK you!”
“I just wanted to express my gratitude to Christen Pugh, Valerie Johnson, Bill Tucker and all who work so hard to make dealing with short sales and real estate transactions easier! Thanks is too small a word.”
“I just want to say thank you for your help. You were extremely helpful. Your experience and knowledge were valuable and reassuring. I want to share that Valerie and Debbie were rock stars. They were organized and professional with just the right amount of push to get us to get them what they needed. Honestly, this went about as good as Ali and I could have hoped in terms of both the transaction coming to fruition but also in terms of the service Valerie and Debbie provided.”
