“I have never seen a lawyer work so hard for her client. I will always go to her, she covers all the bases.”

“Fantastic Attorney – even more fantastic human being!  Yvonne assisted a family member with a difficult and complicated case.  She and her staff are very competent and trustworthy and they went above and beyond in their service to my family member.  They kept us informed with each step and navigated a complicated process which allowed him to focus on healing.  I would highly recommend her and her staff to anyone seeking an attorney who is both honest and competent…sometimes hard to find!!”

Three frequently asked questions about VA medical malpractice cases:

1. Can I sue for medical malpractice?

A patient injured due to medical negligence can file suit.  When the injured patient is a minor, his or her parents may sue on his/her behalf. When someone dies as a result of medical negligence, the administrator of the deceased person’s estate may sue for wrongful death.

2. How long do I have to bring suit in a medical negligence case?

Generally speaking, the statute of limitations for medical malpractice in Virginia is two years from the date of the malpractice or from the last date you treated with the same doctor for the same or a related illness. An exception exists for foreign objects found in your body. Pinpointing the statute of limitations date in a medical malpractice case is very technical. You should always consult an attorney regarding the facts of your case.
For minors, generally speaking, the statute of limitations is two years or until the child’s tenth birthday, whichever is longer. In the event a child dies due to medical negligence, the statute of limitations is two years only – the date of the child’s tenth birthday does not matter in such a case. Again, pinpointing the statute of limitations is very technical. You should contact an attorney. Certain conditions or events may change the length of your statute of limitations, so contact an attorney about your particular case.

3. What is your medical malpractice fee structure?

We handle medical malpractice cases on a contingency fee basis. We do not get paid a legal fee until you receive a settlement or jury verdict award.
