William D. Tucker, III, chose real estate and business as his areas of concentration in the practice of law. Mr. Tucker’s creative vision and real estate development savvy identify him as a leader in business. His clients and associates agree that he is an expert at being responsive, tenacious, focused, and personable.
Born in Miami, Florida, Mr. Tucker grew up in both Miami and in Huntsville, Alabama. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida and went on to law school at the University of Virginia. He received his J.D. in 1971 and subsequently admitted to the bar in Virginia and Florida. Mr. Tucker established this firm in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he continues to reside with his family. A firm believer in community involvement, Mr. Tucker has served as a board member, officer, and counsel for such non-profit organizations as the Paramount Theater, Camp Albemarle, Virginia Institute of Autism, Save the Fireworks, First Night Virginia, and the Charlottesville YMCA. |

Yvonne T. Griffin

Yvonne T. Griffin is a trial lawyer who practices only law for injured persons. Although
she has been practicing law since 1988, for the past ten years she has done nothing but injury
law. During that time, she has handled thousands of personal injury cases. She handles vehicle
accidents, bodily injury, wrongful death, animal bites and medical malpractice.
After graduating from Georgia Southern University in 1980, Ms. Griffin received her MBA from Northwestern State University in 1985 and her JD from the College of William and Mary in 1988. Ms. Griffin served as Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for two years in Hampton, Virginia. There she tried hundreds of cases and used that experience to develop her courtroom style. She has been practicing in Charlottesville since 1992. A member of the Virginia State Bar, Ms. Griffin is also active in numerous professional organizations such as the American Bar Association, the Charlottesville/Albemarle Bar Association, the Thomas Jefferson Inns of Court, the Association of Trial Lawyers in America, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. She is currently serving on the state-wide Board of Governors for the Virginia Trial Lawyers, and serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Charlottesville/Albemarle County Bar Association. Her volunteer activities include Past President of the Albemarle County Police Foundation and Trustee of the Blue Ridge National Multiple Sclerosis Chapter. Mary Ann Barnes

Mary Ann Barnes received her Bachelor of Arts degree from James Madison University in 1983 with a major in Political Science and a minor in Paralegal Studies. After working as a Paralegal in Charlottesville, law school seemed like the next logical step. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Delaware Law School in 1988. During law school she clerked for the Wilmington, Delaware law firm of Doroshow & Pasquale.
The first eleven years of Ms. Barnes law practice was spent representing plaintiff’s in personal injury and product liability matters. Since joining her partners, William Tucker and Yvonne Griffin in 1999, she has expanded her practice. Her current practice areas include Social Security Disability, Estate Planning/Will Drafting and Family Law. In the Family Law department she handles Adoptions and Prenuptial Agreements. Her Adoption practice includes international, parental placement, agency placement, family placement, consent adoptions and non-consent adoptions. She is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia Womens’ Attorneys Association and the Charlottesville Albemarle Bar Association. She resides with her family in Albemarle County and is active in the community. |

A 1993 graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law, Lynn Bradley, has dedicated herself to fighting for the rights of Virginians. Early in her career, she enjoyed a varied general practice with a heavy emphasis on litigation. She was exposed to many areas of the law and logged many hours in the courtroom. As time progressed, Ms. Bradley was able to identify her strengths and follow her interests. She now concentrates her practice in workers’ compensation and collaborative family law. Her many accomplishments are noted in the individual practice sections below.
Worker's Compensation and Collaborative Family Law Ms. Bradley has been with Tucker Griffin Barnes since January, 1996. She is proud to be a member a firm that values individuals and supports the needs of families in and around central Virginia. Ms. Bradley resides in western Albemarle County with her husband, Richard, and daughter, Katie. In her spare time she enjoys reading, cooking and volunteering at her daughter's school. |

A 1996 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, André Hakes has 7+ years experience as a champion of the rights and civil liberties of Virginians accused of criminal offenses. As a law student, Ms. Hakes obtained valuable prosecutorial experience in several local jurisdictions before establishing herself in private practice. During her early years of practice, Ms. Hakes taught in police education classes on several occasions at the Central Shenandoah Criminal Justice Training Center. Ms. Hakes has defended clients on charges ranging from DUI to first degree murder. A talented civil litigator, as well, Ms. Hakes accepts complex real estate litigation matters involving boundary disputes, access easements, partition, and related issues. Ms. Hakes also represents Family Law clients requiring an experienced Litigator. Ms. Hakes has represented clients in federal and state courts in many local jurisdictions, including the Cities of Charlottesville and Waynesboro, and the Counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Harrisonburg, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, Orange and Rockingham. Ms. Hakes is a Special Justice for Fluvanna County.

Laura Blair Butler joined Tucker Griffin Barnes in May of 2005 after having practiced law in Charlotte, North Carolina since 1995. Ms. Butler dedicates her practice exclusively to the area of family law, including child custody, child and spousal support and equitable distribution. Ms. Butler attended Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia and is a member of both the North Carolina and Virginia State Bars.
Ms. Butler is a strong believer in being a zealous advocate for her client while also maintaining the integrity of the legal profession. Ms. Butler recognizes the importance of keeping her clients informed of their rights throughout their case, offering them support and guidance as they make their way through what is often the most difficult time of their lives. |

Mark recently joined TGB after a 13-year career as in-house legal counsel to Albemarle County, Virginia local government and schools from 1994 to 2007.
During that period, Mark served as the primary legal counsel to the Albemarle County School Board and School Division, as well as several other agencies and boards.
In his role as legal counsel to the Albemarle County School Board, Mark provided legal counsel and advice on school law issues of every kind, including teacher contract and
grievances, student disciplinary and attendance matters, constitutional issues involving student and teacher rights of speech and freedom of information, to name just a few.
As the Board’s attorney, Mark negotiated significant real estate acquisition contracts for new school construction, including Monticello High School and
Baker-Butler Elementary School, and played a lead role in negotiating many other school and local government construction projects.
Mark also handled all school procurement and other contract matters on behalf of the Albemarle County School Division.
In recognizing Mark for his valuable contributions to the County of Albemarle, County Executive Robert W. Tucker, Jr. recently stated as follows: "During his 13 years of service, Mark has provided excellent legal advice and counsel. He served with distinction as the primary legal advisor for the Albemarle County School Board and the Emergency Communications Center Board. His expertise in school law, personnel matters, public safety law and contracts has been an invaluable resource. The County has accomplished many of its objectives and is a better place because of Mark’s service." Mark graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1990, and earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University in 1979. Mark has had an interesting and varied career, having worked as a broadcast journalist in radio and television news for a number of years prior to attending law school. Mark has authored or co-authored several publications dealing with employment law and other topics, and served as a chapter editor of a recent treatise on the federal Fair Labor Standards Act published by the American Bar Association. Mark is married to the former Andrea Keyser, who teaches science and journalism at Monticello High School in Albemarle County. Mark and Andrea have 3 children, and their oldest son is attending the University of Virginia in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences as a member of the class of 2011. |
