How To Spot A Real Estate Seller Scam!

With the growing capabilities of our ever-advancing technological world comes the threat of impersonation by scammers everywhere. It’s happened several times already across Virginia, South Carolina, and the nation. The good news is following these tips can help you avoid being a victim:
    • Be especially cautious of vacant land sales, as these are prime targets for scams
    • Scamming sellers will insist on a remote closing
    • Scamming sellers will certainly be in a rush to sell
    • Mistakes/misspellings on IDs are common
    • Scamming sellers will accept low-ball cash offers to close more quickly

Keep the saying “if it looks too good to be true, it likely is” in mind when considering a sale!

The tip: Being mindful of red flags that indicate a seller may be fraudulent can help you avoid selling properties without appropriate permission.
